Many years ago while living in Regina, I was a young gal at the time and always loved the Victoria Park Festival. I remember sitting on the grass front row and one by one the fiddlers came out to join Mr Arcand on stage. Wow when they all played it sounded like one fiddle playing, that’s how great they were! Mr Arcand came to me later and said that out all the people there I was the only one moving and clapping to the music. He really love that, I couldn’t help it as I sure enjoyed the music, he’s a really nice man and talented beyond belief!❤

Thank-you for this amazing film featuring amazing artists and storytellers. Merci. Marrsî 🙏🏼💙 I am a Métis mumma of two grown girls. Since 2007, when I enrolled in college and then university, for the first time, I have been discovering more of who I am, and where my Métis family and I came from, our culture and traditions. I am still in school, now in my last year of my PhD. I have decided to include more of my Métis beingness in my work than I had anticipated, and that decision is due to watching this film. Yesterday I enrolled in a project by artist Tracy Charette Fehr, called "Honouring Our Métis Mothers." We are to bead and/or embroider one of our female Métis family member's name, alongside whatever other artwork we choose to include, on a 10" x 14" piece of wool blanket. These will be gathered up by Tracy and joined together to make a huge blanket, in St Boniface, Manitoba. My Métis community and I are on Vancouver Island. I am so grateful to participate in such a project with women that I am just getting to know. I feel honoured to be doing this work. I will begin with a piece for my great-grandmother Marguerite Tastawitch. She was born April 9, 1877, in Dunvegan, Alberta. She married Charlie Bremner Feb 01, 1898, in Spirit River, Alberta. This film has taught, and shown, me the depth and significance of the work that I am embarking upon. I have been scouring the internet for techniques and patterns as I am largely going at this alone - my Métis community will be meeting once a month. This film has brought home to me that I am not alone, wherever I may be. I feel Marguerite and her daughter, my gramma, Elizabeth 'Bess' Marguerite Bremner Ordell, whispering to me, encouraging me forward. I am feeling a joy, excitement, peacefulness and passion rising up in me that I have not experienced for some time. It feels like many hurts and troubles are healing. ❤🌸

Beautiful rugs. However. Background music almost drowns out narrative. Music is high pitched and almost irritating for a lengthy video.

What a great and informative video to educate people like myself, who are Métis, finding their place in their communities, interested in learning more about their culture, being an active member and joining all the available groups or ceremonies, are proud of their identity and want to teach traditions to the younger generations. One day I will be an Elder too. Thank you for this video. I love the Red River jigging.

Louis David Riel was my eight cousin once removed we share a common relative Grandmother Marie Margurite Marsolet born 1638 Quebec . Louis is related to this lady because her sister Louise Marsolet born 1640 Quebec . My mother's was Ida Quintin she was a mix of Acadian and Quebec French. My surname is from my father he was East Prussian . Anyhow found it very interesting recently to find a connection by blood while distant to this great man of principal . Everyone should do a family tree , you never know who you are related to in history . Terrible this man was executed for defending his people and their honor and way of life . Louis Riel will forever be a hero .

This is Identity Politics on steroids. In fact, "Justice", supposed to be recognized as an objective term, based on reality which is common to all, and not different to/for people depending on their race. This woman either doesn't understand it or is a fake.

Yes, always from bottom right, and then over the top right, under the next, over, under, over, under, until the end of the row where you place it over the strand that's up and it becomes the new "up" strand. Maarsii for watching our video!
